"The Bible is bananas!" Think about some of the stories that you read in the Bible. They really are bananas, as in, they blow your mind. My mind is blown pretty much every time I open the Holy Book. Today for instance, I read the story of the Transfiguration found in Luke chapter 9:28-36. This is the story of Jesus taking John, Peter and James up a mountain and proceeding to meet with Moses and Elijah. By the way, Moses and Elijah are long past dead, just an important note. It is also important to note that Jesus, Moses and Elijah are shining as bright as the sun in a moment of heavenly glorification! I'm putting myself in one of the disciples sandals and all i can think is "this is bananas!" If you don't know the story please find a Bible, google the Bible, do whatever you gotta do and read the account; it's bananas!
So, we've established that my mind was blown by this passage and after I recovered from the blow I thought to myself "what does this mean for me and other followers of Christ?" Well, I did a little digging and came to find another passage in Matthew 13:43 which, basically says, all disciples will shine like the sun in the kingdom of their Father. You see, Jesus came to serve God and serve others. It is the eternal destiny for all who come to be a disciple of Jesus to shine like the sun in God's kingdom. That is BANANAS! Seriously, pause and contemplate that for a minute. Read the passage again if you have to.
Live in the hope that is found in this passage. Jesus took John, Peter and James up to the mountain to show them a glimpse of what is to come. Jesus was going to die on the cross so that His people might live in eternal glory, as pictured in Luke 9:28-36, with the Father forever. Truly amazing hope that we are offered in Christ Jesus.
We all go through difficult times in our lives when we feel like everything, including God, is against us and that we just can't go on. I am encouraging you to reflect on the future glory that you have been granted by Christ because I know it will encourage you to persevere and trust that the best is yet to come.
The Lord has encouraged me through his Word and his Spirit tonight and I hope that this post can offer you a similar reminder.
For His Kingdom.
